Seseri udon (Chicken udon) with tempura
Having just turned 10 years old, 'Takematsu Udon ten' is a popular
and well established restaurant.
'Takematsu Udon ten' is a 15-20 minute drive from Ayabe Station
or a 12km bike ride.
The owner traveled with width and breath of Japan tasting and learning to make udon before coming back to Ayabe and starting his own restaurant.
His dedication to learning about udon really shows, as without a doubt the best bowl of udon I have ever had was at 'Takematsu Udon ten'.
Udon Takamatsu Menu
If you have no other meal while visiting Ayabe you will not be disappointed.
The menu has a variety of both hot and cold udon options
as well as a variety of tempura options to eat with your udon.
I had the seseri udon (chicken udon) with a side of tempura.
I chose the soft-boiled egg tempura and the seasonal fish tempura.
Seating inside the next down storehouse
'Takematsu Udon ten' is a small restaurant with three types of seating.
A small number of seats are available in the main building just outside the kitchen while the old adjacent Kura storehouse offers additional indoor seating.
But on nice days you can also opt to sit outside
and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Outdoor seating
When I next visit Ayabe this is sure to be my first stop.
Even if I am just driving in the area, I would gladly detour out of way
to come back and have another tasty lunch.
